Cricket fans could be bowled over this summer with a brand new video game that will be released, and it will come out just in time for the start of the Ashes.
More details have emerged surrounding the new game entitled Cricket 24 which showcases the work of Big Ant Studios and Nacon, and it will be made available on PC and consoles.
Cricket games have evolved over the years with improved graphics and audio, and Cricket 24 is no different, as it will feature some of the game’s powerhouses, including Australia, New Zealand, and England.
It will coincide with the highly anticipated Ashes series, although Cricket 24 will also stage other major tournaments, including The Hundred, the Caribbean Premier League, and several unspecified teams that usually participate in the IPL.
As far as the Ashes is concerned, the game will feel very lifelike, with bespoke Ashes commentary ball-by-ball, and press conferences to follow after each match, where coaches will field questions from journalists.
In many respects, this game bears the same hallmarks and it is inspired by the celebrated FIFA franchise, with new modes such as Pro Teams, and the game will support cross-play multiplayer, so that players can compete against their friends online.
A statement supplied by Big Ant CEO Ross Symons read: “The passion and excitement shown by our fans at the prospect of another game being released before the upcoming Ashes has been overwhelming.
“We’ve been working incredibly hard with cricket boards all over the world to bring what is the deepest, most realistic video game representation of the sport ever.”
Of course, the timing of Cricket 24 is intriguing, especially in the run-up to the Ashes, and it will perhaps whet the appetites of the most ardent cricket fans in what is likely to be a busy summer. As always, the Ashes will capture the hearts and minds of cricket fans all over the world.
There has always been a fierce rivalry between Australia and England, and it is a sporting contest that has spanned well over 100 years. England are on home soil this time, and they will be desperate to reclaim the little ‘urn’, which is one of cricket’s most prized trophies.
Aside from the fans and the players, the Ashes will be well covered by a plethora of reputable Australia cricket betting sites. This includes the likes of bet365 and Unibet, who will publish a raft of pre-match odds, including a handful of specials for the batsmen and bowlers on display. On the outright side of things, Unibet is pricing England at a short 10/11 to triumph.
It is clear a lot of thought and care has gone into making Cricket 24, and fans could well find themselves engrossed in playing the game rather than the Ashes.
The official launch will be very exciting, and if it plays its cards right, Cricket 24 could fire a crisp six into the boundary. Only time will tell as to whether or not it will be well received.
