Cyberpunk 2077 and How It Became a Great Game
CD Project Red Studio is known as one of the most capable studios out there when it comes to the creation of unique gaming titles. Their adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher brought the fantasy series immense popularity and opened many people to the beauty of the actual books. Well, Cyberpunk follows in the good development practices pioneered by the studio. As gaming has evolved to feature numerous trusted online roulette sites these days, we take a look at one of the most compelling video games out there.
Cyberpunk 2077: A Simple Premise, a Brilliant Execution
Welcome to Night City, the place where your adventure begins. In the near-dystopian future, where powerful corporation carry out their seedy deeds under a veneer of benevolence and philanthropy when in reality they are trying to achieve immortality.
Immortality is not one to easily come and the series is clearly inspired by the Altered Carbon TV series. Yet, don't worry because, unlike the dispiriting Netflix show, Cyberpunk 2077 is created to bring fans joy. And so, you are on to corporations who murder, lie and work in their best interests in order to create a solution that allows a living copy of your mind to live on.
Yet, there are some interesting philosophical choices to be made here. The main character known as V is going to have some tough choices indeed as his body is now haunted by the memories of a digital ghost, one Johnny Silver hand portrayed by Keanu Reeves, who is back from the dead thanks to a nanochip technology that now allows him to live on.
Only, the chip has ended in V's body and he, meaning you, will now have to cohabit this body with the digital ghost that isn't going to simply go away. Yet, Reeves' character is not aggressive either and he respects your choice to retain control over your body. Only, the issue here is that if he shuts down Silverhand, he will live on with unknown life expectancy which has been shortened.
Silverhand respects this choice. Well, since it's your character, you will get to decide whether you want to let Silverhand take over, or you would seek revenge on the treacherous corporation that ruined your life. You may even let Silverhand take the front seat and let him act through you to avenge you. As we have mentioned, this game is about tough philosophical choices and the distant future does promise man and machine to meld their consciousness, so watch out!
What Made the Game So Successful?
Even though the game has been haunted by some minor blips and the player base did complain about bugs, the truth is Cyberpunk 2077 hit its mark and it did it well. CD Project Red Studio admitted that they may have rushed their second game following the TREMENDOUS success of The Witcher amid the Netflix series launch, but when all was said and done, the team really pulled their weight and were able to successfully deliver patches and fixes.
The physics of the game was rapidly changed and the game continued to climb through the rankings. It's currently rated 86/100 at Metacritic and so far as demanding rating services go, you can rest assured that the service really takes everything into consideration when assigning a rating.
Of course, there are other factors that really boosted the popularity of the game and there is no way we could deny that. For starters, CD Project achieved HUGE popularity around the time Netflix released their show. The cameo by Keanu Reeves was an amazing marketing move that really piled on the hype and, not least, the Altered Carbon series were equally enticing and Netflix did a great job with those too.
The bottom line is that Cyberpunk 2077 delivered precisely what it promised to be – a futuristic mash-up with a lot of variety and an eerie prediction about the future.
