The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings features an amazing world, deep story and intriguing and fun gameplay. In the game you take control Geralt of Rivia, a witcher. Geralt is a capable fighter at the start of the game, but increasing his abilities and leveling up might make him a complete powerhouse that can take any enemy, no matter the strength or the number. The combat of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings features a three level-up paths that the players might take: Alchemy, Swordsmanship and Magic. None of them are locked-in, upon taking one of them, so players can (and actually should) mix it up by spending ability points in all three.
Alchemy path gives ability to Geralt to create various potions that could make him stronger. Increasing perception or straight up the damage output of his attacks. Alchemy also allows players to create ointments that can hone and enhance the weapons that Geralt is carrying.
Magic path, like the name implies, increases the magical capabilities of the Witcher. Geralt can use six magical Signs on enemies or himself which have different effects and can be improved upon leveling up. Upon reaching the ending of the Magic path, Geralt can unlock a seventh sign.
The third path, Swordsmanship, focuses on melee and Geralt ability to obliterate enemies with weapons. Going further up the path, players can unlock spectacular finishing moves.
By default, the Witcher uses two swords - a steel one for human characters and a silver one for monsters, though, like with the abilities, the Witcher is not locked into using only those two. The game features a huge variety of weapons and it even features ranged weapons and the Witcher can throw.
Versatile playstyles are encouraged, as some of the enemies of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings might and will be impervious to some elements or weapons. Mixing it up is the key.
