Developed by Presage Software and Published by Interplay Entertainment, it was originally released as Mario's Game Gallery in 1995 and then later redistributed in 1998 as Mario's Fundamentals which was published by Mindscape (PC) and Stepping Stone (Mac).

Mario's Game Gallery was the first Mario related game in which Mario had a voice.

The player gets to chose between five different games to play against Mario. There is no option to play against a friend, only playing against Mario is available. Each game incorporates Mario universe themed items.
