There are five different Legendary Fish in Stardew Valley. These are Crimsonfish, Angler, Legend, Mutant Carp and Glacierfish. All five of them are dwelling in different locations and sometimes can only be caught on specific circumstances. Legendary fish in Stardew Valley are extra hard to catch so there are some tips to consider before you even try to get hold of one.
First of all own the best fishing rod. And the best one is iridium rod. Better fishing rod allows you to catch fish that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to. Iridium rod is not that hard to get but it will provide you with two important features: bait and tackle.
Use fishing tackle. You can try various options, but Track Bobber should catch your attention. This fishing tackle makes fish escape slower when you are not reeling them. And trust me, there will be a lot of instances when you won’t be able to keep up with legendary fish, and most certainly you will not be able to reel them all the time.
Of course, it would be very great, if you set out to catch legendary fish only when you have reached 10th level of fishing, that would make the job easier. But that is not mandatory. You can also increase your level (even level 10, yes) by buying Trout Soup from Willy.
So next thing you could do is cook Dish ‘o The Sea to give you more fishing advantages. It works for a limited time though, so eat the dish just before you cast the rod. Eating both Trout Soup and Dish ‘o The Sea will make catching legendary fish a lot easier.
How do you know if you got a legendary fish on your tackle? Take a look at the fish that shows up in the mini game - if it has a crown on its head, this means it is indeed a legendary fish.
Very important thing when looking for legendary fish, is location. You will not find them anywhere, you actually have to go to specific locations to get a chance of catching a legendary fish.
Crimsonfish
Crimsonfish can only be caught in summer. To catch this legendary fish you will have to go to the beach and repair the bridge, if you haven’t done so already (it will require 300 pieces of wood) and after crossing this small bridge go ahead and try catching the Crimsonfish. It is not so hard a catch, but it may take a while to get the fish to hit your tackle.
Crimsonfish doesn’t need any specific circumstances to be caught besides the season, i.e. summer. Its selling price is around 2000 g.
Angler
To catch the Angler legendary fish you will have to wait till fall. It will be waiting for you in the river north of the Joja mart. You will find a small wooden bridge in that river. You have to cast your rod north of that bridge in order to catch the Angler.
Angler is one of the easy catches between the legendary fish. It is worth about 1 125 g.
Legend
This legendary fish can only be caught in spring in the Mountain lake. You will have to cast a line towards the log that’s rotting in the depths. Legend can only be caught on rainy days. And there are not so many rainy days in spring (if any), so make sure you use them well. Besides Legend is only available to catch before 10 p.m., keep the track of the time.
Legend is tricky to catch and there are a lot of circumstances that have to be met before you even try, but it is the most profitable fish. It’s value reaches 16 000 g.
Mutant Carp
Mutant Carp does not require any specific circumstances, so you can catch it at any season, at any time and weather doesn’t affect it as well. All you need is to be able to access the Sewers. This will happen as soon as you donate 60 artefacts to the museum. Gunther will visit you in the morning and give you a key that will open the Sewers for you.
Mutant Carp is not a complicated catch. It also doesn’t sell well, just 1 125 g.
Glacierfish
Galcierfish can only be found in winter. You will have to go to the south-west side of the map and get on a small island. Once there go to the southern tip of this island. Weather will not influence the appearance of this legendary fish, but time does. You will have to catch Glacierfish before 10 p.m.
Glacierfish is not an easy catch. However, it will not sell well. Its selling price is 1 125 g.
