Stardew Valley gives you five different farm types. Each of these different farm layouts give you the benefit to cultivate different skills: farming, fishing, combat, mining or foraging. If you have a specific skill you want to focus on when playing Stardew Valley, you should consider trying out different farm layouts.
Standard Farm
First of all there is the Standard Farm. This farm layout provides you with plenty of farming land, that you can use to pursue your ambitions of becoming the best farmer or rancher ever. There is a lot of flat land for you to plant crops or build coops and barns and have the colony of those cute Stardew Valley animals.
Riverland Farm
Then there is Riverland Farm. And it sure as hell consists of tons of water areas which do not leave much space for farming. However Riverland Farm is perfect for fishing enthusiasts, since you won’t have to go to Pelican town to do the fishing. Just step out of your home and help yourself with the variety of fish that can be caught, from the convenience of your home, so to speak.
Hill-top Farm
Hill-top Farm layout is just for you if you’re a mountain lover. Of course there is a ridiculous amount of levels in this layout that you have to go up and down in order to get somewhere, but that’s the uniqueness of the Hill-top layout - the cliffs make it look like you are living by the foot of the mountain. This map is made for the miners. There’s even a special area in your farmland that is dedicated for mining. Stones, ores and geodes spawn there. However if you want more advanced items to appear there, you will first have to go down in the mines to the levels where they start appearing.
Wilderness Farm
Wilderness Farm is made for combat fans. The layout is not something exceptional. Apart from a few cliffs and different looking ponds, Wilderness Farm strongly reminds of Standard one. However there’s going to be monsters! Some monsters will spawn during the dark hours in your farm. What’s special is that Wilderness Golems cannot be encountered anywhere else but here, in your Wilderness Farm. Forest Farm Forest Farm has significantly less farming land. However it’s not really made for intense farming. Forest Farm layout is for those who want to save a trip and instead of going to the Secret Woods, get the hardwood from the large renewable stumps in their yard. Forest Farm layout also favors foraging. It’s really cozy looking farm layout, if you like the woods and forests.
A very nice detail to all farm layouts is that the house interior differs depending on the farm layout you chose. You can get all types of cute design depending on the skill you will be cultivating, thus letting you actually feel the atmosphere of the layout better.
