A bed is your spawning point and is the main relaxation position which allows you to spawn NPC’s. Making the bed in Terraria is quite easy, you need a few items and enough space. It should be inside of your house – a protected place with walls and barriers that monsters and enemies can’t pass. There are a few other criteria that are hard to not fulfill. Enemies can’t spawn in the area also along with other requirements that aren’t hard to figure out – space/shape and protection suitability.
The basic bed can be made at the sawmill by bringing 5 silk pieces, 35 Cobwebs and 15 wood. This is the recipe for a basic bed, but there are many more recipes for beds: 28 and counting to be exact. For example the Bone Bed can only be made in the Bone Welder and requires different materials. The only one common amongst all of them is silk. But let’s say you want a fancy bed right at the beginning, we suggest you get yourself some fancy wood, for example 15 pieces of Rich Mahogany and combine with 5 pieces of silk to craft a Rich Mahogany bed in the sawmill.
To utilize the maximum potential of your bed, you have to set it as your spawn point. Press RMB on the bed to do so. Having a certain bed as your spawn point means less tedious travels and quicker progress, so if you, let’s say, have dug a deep tunnel and built a second house and plan on fighting the wall of Flesh soon, it’s just reckless not to select the second house in the dungeon as your spawn point as it is going to save you tons of time and energy.
