Terraria is all about the adventure and survival. In order to maximize the fun and the skill, you need to feel in control. The control is on your keyboard or the controller connected to the PC. As a PC-first game, Terraria is very well suited to play with a keyboard so we’ll go over the basic controls in this article so you can see what it is all about when it comes down to the keyboard and buttons.

To switch up controls and bind different keys, do it either through the main menu or during a pause in the game.

W

Climbs ropes, inverts gravity, and utilizes other potion effects.

A

Moves the character LEFT.

S

Climbs down, drops

D

Moves the character RIGHT.

E

Uses Grappling Hook.

Space

Jump, double jump, hold down to fly or glide if the right items are equipped.

ESC

Open up the inventory, crafting, equipment and allows Save & Quit (Single Player) or Disconnect 

ALT+Enter

Toggles screen Fullscreen/Windowed mode.

Enter

Opens up the chat

Num 1-0

Select an item in the binded hotbar.

F9

Switch between light modes

F10

Toggles FPS counter

F11

Toggles HUD.

F12

Takes a screenshot (Steam).

LMB

·         Use currently equipped tool or item

·         Use items from the inventory (If Autopause is turned off)

·         Shift+Click to trash, deposit into chest or sell an item.

·         Craft/buy items

·         Move items around the inventory

RMB

·         Interact with the scenario (doors, switches, NPCs)

·         Drop items from the inventory

·         Hold to craft/buy multiple items

·         Pick up one item from a stack

MMB up or MMB down

·         Inventory Closed: Scroll between items in the Hotbar

·         Inventory Open: Scroll between available crafting recipes

J

Quick use first Mana Potion.

H

Quick use first Healing Item.

B

Quick use all Buff potions.

T

Throw current item in the character‘s hand (drops item from inventory).

LShift And Hold

Automatically selects whatever item is appropriate for the area you have your cursor over (e.g. a pickaxe if over rock). If cursor is over empty space or out of range, It will default to whatever light source is appropriate (torches in air, glowsticks/Flare Gun in water.)

M

Full screen map.

Zoom In Map.

Zoom Out Map.

Page Up

Decrease transparency of the overlay map.

Page Down

Increase transparency of the overlay map.
