The latest installment in the series came out in 2007 and provided gamers, both new fans and long-time players with a new set of emotions that were never seen before. With character customization now in play, the gamer could customize up to 8 features that could make their avatar unique:

But there were five factions of characters already in the game. Read below to find out the list of characters and a short description and brief information about their races.
- Iron Guard – Led by a group of veterans, this team has gathered a following and fans across the galaxy. Led by Lauren, this team is comprised by colorful bunch of characters with different backgrounds and personalities. Human team.

- Ronin – The protagonists of UT3, with the main character, player controlled James Hawkins “Reaper” being a member. The name Ronin means ‘a Samurai without a master’ or just a person who is drifting. It has 7 members with Kana available since patch 2.0 and Kensai being unlocked with the INI files.

- The Corrupt – Cybernetic creatures. Human built, smart robots owned by Liandri Mining Corporation. Their leader is Kriegor a former champion of the tournament, but in UT3 they’re led by Matrix an enhanced human (scientific) now a full robot. Many of the members were originally built for hard mining labor, others for entertainment, but all were reprogrammed for fighting.

- Krall – Lizard like aliens that have large spikes and act primal. They were employed or given labor by Skaarj, Necris for colonization works. A high notice for their fighting skills that Skaarj use them as fighters, but rather disappointing that because of their little development they’re too primitive to become a force to be reckoned with in the universe. On average they’re 7 feet tall (2.10m) and more than 285 lbs (upwards of 130 kg).

- Necris – Undeads, that had the gift of being brought back to life through the “Necris” process thus gaining the name Necris. They serve as the main antagonist of the game as they declare a full-fledged war on earth. Ronin set out to Necris home planet thirsty for revenge, a mission that was not supported by the tournament leader Marcus. They’re used by the Lliandri Corporation to keep fan favorites fighting. For example when Brock was killed, he was brought back to fight along the Necris
