Blizzard have really filled this game with movie references, in game nods and other fun things for players to laugh and talk about. Finding all of these can be nearly impossible, that’s why we’ll list them here, in gamespeditions’ Ovewatch Easter Eggs article. Enjoy!
- Zarya says „I will break you“ is a clear cut Ivan Drago from Rocky Balboa’s 4’th film.
- Junkrat’s “Why so serious?” which he says right after killing Reaper – Joker from the Dark Knight.
- Winston says: “Don’t get me angry” and “Houston, we have a problem” – direct nods to the Hulk and NASA respectively.
- “I Choose you spirit dragon” – Hanzo references Pokemon.
- Zenyatta: “Free your mind” – just like Morpheus from the Matrix.
- This one might be true, or just might be a coincidence. Remember the Incredibles? Well in the movie, the character Frozone uses the phrase “Freeze, don’t move” – Mei is heard saying the same line.
- Zarya also references another Russian themed film by saying this after her final hit: “From Russia, with love.”.
- Ana says “Witness me” which is a hybrid of both Mad Max: Fury road and Nike’s Lebron James advertisement “Witness” –just means that she’s great and loves her work.
- A game in the arcade – Super Siege Mode 3 is similar to a particular Blizzard creation – Starcraft
- A tablet with Hearthstone images can be seen in Hollywood, Ilios’s tablet displays Hearthstone also.
- A Diablo nod – Hollywood map has a trailer with Tyrael’s name.
- Symmetra talks about the cake being a lie… Oh god, it seems that we’re back a few years in the Ray William Johnson days of Youtube, but clearly this is a reference to the Portal Series.
- Va. will sometimes use the Konami code…
- Zaria pummels you with Russian puns: “In Russia, game plays you”… Oh Blizzard…
