Design
Hardland breaks the game world up into a collection of sandboxes in which players are free to make their own decisions about the course of the game; actions towards NPCs are not artificially limited and anything that is allowed by the game's mechanics is available for use at all times. There are both hand-crafted and procedurally generated locations in the game where the generated locations primarily include dungeons and areas of the wilderness. Key locations such as the Adventurerers' Guild are hand-crafted.
Development
Hardland is developed by Mountain Sheep. Prior to its first public release on in October, 2014 the game had been in development for 8 months.
